Introduction

An office isn’t a ship. Says who?

Every embankment has a dominant feature. In Karlín, it’s Danube House. It’s not something you can miss as it’s visible from the neighbouring Holešovice district!

Enjoy the view from this ship whose bow faces the Negrelli viaduct, with the Štvanice island on its starboard side and the Vítkov hill to port. Its glassy atrium is open to the public so anyone can admire this generous space.

Location

Your commute can become a cruise

Just as the Danube has many tributaries, many roads lead to Danube House. It’s just a three-minute walk from the Karlínské náměstí tram stop and just a little further to the Křižíkova metro stop on the B line. The Florenc station is almost as close, with stops on the B and C metro lines, a number of trams, as well as a terminal for international, domestic, and city buses.

Danube House is connected with the other buildings via underground tunnels that include parking. If you decide to drive, you can use one of the more than 250 spaces. If you don’t want to wait for a green light, a footbridge crossing the four-lane road connects River City Prague with the older part of Karlín.

Those who are more active can use the cycling path along the Vltava River while others can cross the water using the ferry, which can carry a bike or even a stroller and is a great way to view the Štvanice Island and Prague Castle.

Atmosphere

Bringing the World
to Karlín

Prague is not Berlin. Says who? Thanks to all the new businesses in the district, Karlín is often referred to as Prague’s Kreuzberg. Once you see all the cafés, designer boutiques, and barber shops, the only thing to say is jawohl.

If your co-workers manage to drink all the coffee in your office, the near-by cafés, juice bars, and restaurants are there to fulfil your needs. They can all be found within the campus along with a post office, ATM, and florist. There’s always something going on. Food trucks often park in the courtyard offering a broad range of lunch options, or you can visit the local farmers market. If you have some free time, check out our online magazine ŘÍKÁ KDO (SAYS WHO)?. Warning: Reading can cause hunger or the desire to visit a gallery.

Did you know the building is also popular with movie productions? Did James Bond visit your office? He’s been to Danube House!

Make your boring meeting more fun. Take your client to a working lunch. It can help improve cooperation and if you sprinkle in some entertaining stories, new doors may open for you.

When you finish in the evening by having wine with friends, at a rum tasting, or at a concert, no one will even notice it’s not casual Friday.

A healthy enviroment

A large building means a large footprint. Says who?

Besides its atypical design, Danube House is also remarkable for its efforts to reduce its environmental footprint, something that’s been confirmed by earning LEED Platinum environmental certification. Although the atrium is covered, you feel like you are outside because of the greenery. That’s also a result of the unique ventilation system that exchanges the indoor air four times per hour.

And if you want to really feel the wind in your hair, you can take a walk on Štvanice Island or use the bike path to go for a run or a relaxing ride. This environmentally-friendly building won’t zap you of energy, but instead conserves it for when you really need it.

Design

There’s not much room onboard. Says who?

Just like any ocean liner, Danube House offers a wide range of places where you can find peace and quiet. You can also take a walk or a bike ride on the nearby path. Some fresh air and the surrounding greenery are sure to calm you down and put you in the right frame of mind to get some work done.

Thanks to the red sandstone façade and the striking design, Danube House is unmistakable among Karlín’s growing number of administrative centres. And the interior is just as stylish as the exterior. The monumental all-glass atrium creates the hull of a massive ship headed west. It symbolically recalls a time when the spot was home to Karlín’s harbour. It’s equipped with glass elevators, staircases, and causeways that also distribute air.

Whether you admire Danube House from the outside or the quality within, the final design came from London’s Kohn Pedersen Fox in cooperation with Czech architectural studio A.D.N.S. architekti and it’s won several significant awards.

River city Prague

The Best Atmosphere for Work in the City

We were able to transform this former brownfield into an expansive and impressive project that contributes to the city’s development. The River City Prague campus awakens Karlín and creates a pulsing and prospering space.

We built a complex of five adjacent buildings where work and nature mix freely.

Now we’re putting our energy into our tenants by creating a singular space that makes your job easier. Take your work to a place where you’ll enjoy being productive and you’ll look forward to returning.

Your competition will be jealous of these offices.
